Dismissal of Murder Charges

Steven Knecht recently won the dismissal of an Attempted Murder charge. Knecht successfully argued that his client could not be charged with Attempted Murder because the crime of Attempted Murder based on the felony murder doctrine does not exist in Indiana. Felony murder is when someone kills another human being while committing or attempting to commit certain felonies listed by statute. Because felony murder does not require the specific intent to kill, it can be the basis for an attempted murder charge which requires a person act with the specific intent to kill.

With over 37 years of experience, Steven Knecht is familiar with the possible defenses to criminal charges. If you find yourself having been arrested or accused of a crime, you should immediately hire an experienced criminal defense lawyer such as Steven Knecht to help you fight the State.
